about

The bond between the two drummer-percussionists of this trio, Michel Debrulle and Stephan Pougin, who have been working together for more than 20 years within the Collectif du Lion (*), is an undeniable strength in weaving a complex, musical but always readable rhythmic game. The sound work by Louis Frères through the use of synthesizers and effects pedals, in addition to the groovy potential of the bass, contributes to specifying the colour of the trio.

Improvisation and the contribution of vocals are also structural elements of their musical aesthetic. The three musicians are alternately soloists and accompanists, and their musical approach is both poetic and free, in a tribal style without being ethnic, jazzy, dancing or noisy.
Their music is open to encounters, whether they are musical, literary, dancing, theatrical, or plastic... This is how these three musicians created in October 2022, the music of the multidisciplinary show RéPercussion-ID, commissioned by the Espace MAGH for the opening of its Origin'Aléas festival. On stage, four contemporary hip-hop dancers, an actress-singer and the three musicians explore the theme of identity in a broad spectrum, and the one of the living, to sketch new narratives and feed the imaginary. The title "Fais tes cartons", a text by P.B. Preciado performed by Farida Boujraf, is an extract from this show.
It was also obvious to invite musician Jean-Yves Evrard, guitarist of the first two albums of the Rêve d'éléphant Orchestra, for three compositions, both for his very particular sound and his unique way of colouring the music.

We thank them both for their performance full of correctness.
